It grossed $56.9 million worldwide and was followed by five low-budget made-for-television sequels, starting with Lake Placid 2 in 2007. The film was distributed by 20th Century Fox and released in theatres in the United States on July 16, 1999, and in the United Kingdom on March 31, 2000. Lake Placid was produced by Fox 2000 Pictures and Stan Winston Studios (which did the special effects for the creatures) and principal photography was shot in British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately, production on the Five Nights At Freddy's movie faced even more delays after Cawthon announced he was redrafting the script, and then Columbus left the project in 2021. With it still being stuck in development hell by 2017, the Five Nights At Freddy's eventually moved to Blumhouse Productions, with producer Jason Blum announcing that it was now set to be directed by Christopher Columbus and written by Scott Cawthon. However, problems soon arose as production faced many setbacks, which was mainly down to the film industry. Studios announced that a live adaptation of Five Nights At Freddy's was in development, with Gil Kenan set to direct. The October release for the FNAF movie has been a long time coming, since a live-action adaption of Five Nights At Freddy's has been in discussion for several years. ![]() Alongside it's theatrical release some viewers in the United States will also be able to watch the Five Nights At Freddy's movie from the comfort of their own homes, as it will be released on Peacock simultaneously. After its long development, Five Nights At Freddy's release date is October 27, 2023.
